Best Free LinkedIn Photo Analyzers in 2026, Compared
Seven headshot analyzers: what each one scores, what's actually free, and what happens to your photo.
By Cavefish, makers of LinkedIn Photo Score · Every fact checked on the vendor's own site on 22 September 2026
What is the best LinkedIn headshot analyzer?
The best LinkedIn headshot analyzer depends on what you want to know. For a detailed technical breakdown, Snappr Photo Analyzer scores eleven attributes from smile to colour temperature. For privacy, LinkedIn Photo Checker runs entirely in your browser, so your photo never reaches a server. For composition, BetterPic grades framing against six rules. For how you come across - competent, trustworthy, approachable - LinkedIn Photo Score rates six perception dimensions. For real human opinions, Photofeeler has people vote on your photo, free if you vote on others or from $9 for 40 votes. All of the AI tools are free; the differences are sign-up, daily limits and what happens to your image. Snappr, BetterPic and businessheadshots.io sell photoshoots or AI headshots, so a low score leads to their product. We make LinkedIn Photo Score, so we have tried to be specific about where the others beat it.

1. Best for a detailed technical breakdown
Snappr Photo Analyzer
The best-known analyzer and the most granular on photo technique. You get an overall score out of 100, your best and worst attribute, and a tip for each of eleven face, composition and editing attributes. It asks for your name before analysing and offers to email results. Snappr's business is booking photographers, so the call to action after your score is a photoshoot. Its privacy wording says your photo is not sold or shared with third parties, but doesn't say how long it is kept.
- What it scores
- 0-100 overall from 11 attributes: smile, squinch, jawline, zoom, rule of thirds, background, brightness, contrast, saturation, colour temperature, sharpness
- Cost
- Free, no fee or card
- Your photo
- Uploaded to Snappr's servers; "not sold or shared"; storage period not published
- How the company makes money
- Photographer booking (analyzer is its lead-in)
2. Best for privacy
LinkedIn Photo Checker
The most private option here, and more private than our own tool: face detection runs locally in your browser, so the photo never leaves your device. It is also the most LinkedIn-specific on format - it previews your photo in LinkedIn's circular crop at full and thumbnail size and exports a 400 x 400 version. The trade-off is scope: it checks crop, light, sharpness and background, not expression or how you come across.
- What it scores
- Four checks scored 0-100 and combined into a grade: circular crop and face position, lighting, sharpness at thumbnail size, background distraction
- Cost
- Free, no pricing on site
- Your photo
- Analysed on-device in your browser; never sent to a server
- How the company makes money
- None visible
3. Best for composition feedback
BetterPic LinkedIn Photo Analyzer
Strong on composition, with written feedback against rule of thirds and five further framing rules, plus expression, eye contact and editing. BetterPic is candid that the tool "cannot judge whether someone looks trustworthy or competent" - it grades the photograph, not the impression. The company sells AI-generated headshots (one-time packs from $35 on its pricing page), so that is where it points you if your score is low.
- What it scores
- 1-100 across expression and eye contact, composition (rule of thirds plus five further rules), editing, background and framing
- Cost
- Free; usage limits not published
- Your photo
- "Does not store your photo permanently"; not used for training
- How the company makes money
- AI headshot generator (from $35 one-time)
4. Best for how you come across
LinkedIn Photo Score
Our tool, so weigh this entry accordingly. It is the only free analyzer here that scores perception - how competent, trustworthy or approachable you appear - rather than photo technique, based on face-perception research such as Willis and Todorov's 100-millisecond studies. It gives three improvement tips and a "headshot twin" comparison. What it doesn't do: it gives no attribute-by-attribute technical breakdown like Snappr, no crop preview like LinkedIn Photo Checker, and unlike LinkedIn Photo Checker your photo does leave your device (it is discarded after analysis). AI trait judgments are an informed estimate, not a verdict.
- What it scores
- 0-100 overall plus six perception dimensions: approachability, competence, trustworthiness, confidence, likability, leadership
- Cost
- Free, no paid tier
- Your photo
- Sent to the AI for analysis, then discarded; not stored or used for training
- How the company makes money
- Cavefish (emotional AI); no upsell in the tool
5. Best alongside other free LinkedIn tools
CareerAI Genius Photo Analyzer
A clean free analyzer with a 0-100 score, per-dimension feedback and a "Quick Fixes for 90+ Score" list. It sits inside a suite of seventeen free LinkedIn and career tools and doesn't sell headshots. Its tool page doesn't publish what happens to your photo, which is the main thing to know before uploading.
- What it scores
- 0-100 with a presence label, across framing, lighting, expression and background
- Cost
- Free, no usage limits for normal use
- Your photo
- Not published on the tool page
- How the company makes money
- Suite of 17 free career tools; no headshot sales
6. Best for a retake-or-keep decision
businessheadshots.io LinkedIn Photo Analyzer
Gives a score, a readiness label and a clear priority - keep the photo, retake it, or get a headshot set. It covers both technique and impression and cites the same Willis and Todorov research. Free use is capped at two photos a day without signing in. The site sells AI business headshots, which is the recommended fix when a photo scores low.
- What it scores
- Professional impression, crop and face visibility, lighting, background, expression, eye contact, clarity; example result "78/100 Almost ready"
- Cost
- Free: 2 checks per 24 hours, 8 if signed in
- Your photo
- Used only to create the score; not saved to an account
- How the company makes money
- AI business headshot packages
7. Best for real human votes
Photofeeler
Not an AI analyzer - real people vote on your photo, which is its strength. Business tests measure how competent, likable and influential you look to voters in a demographic you choose. It is free if you earn votes by rating other people's photos, or you buy credits (1 credit = 1 vote; 40 for $9, 100 for $19, 250 for $39, 650 for $79 as listed on its pricing page). It needs an account and is slower than an instant AI score. See our full Photofeeler review.
- What it scores
- Human voters rate Business photos on Competent, Likable, Influential
- Cost
- Free by voting on others' photos (karma); paid credits from $9 for 40 votes
- Your photo
- Seen only by voters in your chosen demographic during a test; private afterwards; never indexed by Google
- How the company makes money
- Sells vote credits
How we compared them
We checked each tool's own page on 22 September 2026 for five things: whether it is free and what is limited, whether you need an account or email, what it actually scores and on what scale, what it says happens to your photo, and how the company makes money. Where a vendor doesn't state something, we say it is not published rather than guessing. We did not include tools that only generate new AI headshots without rating your existing photo. Prices and limits change, so check the vendor's page before you rely on them.
